Pro tip: frozen veggie bags are cheaper and last way longer than fresh

I switched to frozen broccoli and spinach last month after throwing out $15 of slimy fresh stuff, and honestly my meals taste just as good for half the cost, has anyone else made the swap?

Ah man, I gotta push back on that a little! Ngl @tarag28 nailed it with the roasting trick - that changed everything for me. But honestly, I think the issue is people treat frozen veggies like fresh ones, and that's where it falls apart. My kids hated frozen green beans until I started roasting them straight from frozen with some olive oil and chili flakes, now they actually prefer them over fresh because they get these crunchy edges. The texture thing is real if you just steam or microwave them, but if you dry them off and hit them with high heat, it's a total game changer.

My kids won't touch frozen broccoli, they can tell the texture is off. I spend more on fresh but at least it actually gets eaten.

Wait, are you steaming or roasting the frozen broccoli? That might be why your kids are picking up on a texture difference. I found that if I roast frozen broccoli at 425 with a little oil and garlic salt, it gets crispy on the edges and my picky eater actually asks for seconds. The key is not to thaw it first and to spread it out on the pan so it isn't steaming in its own moisture.
