Rant: Switched to store brand beans and never looked back

My grocery bill dropped by a third. Who needs fancy labels when the food tastes the same?

Switching to store brands was a big change for me too. Found out most products come from the same places as name brands. Saving that cash every week adds up fast. Let go of my own food pride a while back. The taste is the same, just without the fancy packaging. Now I laugh at the extra money I used to waste.

Took me years to realize the fancy brands were mostly paying for their ad budget. My pantry is now a monument to generics, and my taste buds adjusted just fine. Honestly, my last shred of foodie dignity faded with the canned tomatoes.

I always thought paying more meant getting better food. That changed when I learned how many brands share suppliers with generics. @diana_adams mentioning canned tomatoes really drove the point home for me. Her post made me see I was fooling myself with fancy labels. Now I stick to store brands and my grocery bill is much lower. The quality is there without the brand name tax.
