Spotted a 'luxury' bean salad for $14 at a gas station in Boise

I guess you just need to call something 'artisanal' to charge that much for a can of beans and some corn, right?

My buddy grabbed a "gourmet" egg salad sandwich from a hotel lobby last week. It was literally just two slices of white bread with some yellow goop in the middle. They charged him sixteen bucks and called it a "deconstructed deviled egg experience" on the label. He was so mad he just ate gas station jerky for lunch instead.

and honestly, that's like the whole food scene now, isn't it? Everything has to have some stupid fancy name and a price tag that makes no sense. You can't just buy a sandwich anymore, it has to be an "experience" or "artisan" or whatever word they think justifies charging triple the normal amount. It's like they think if they call it "deconstructed" people will feel cool paying for it, but really you're just getting egg salad on bread. The gas station jerky move is a power play, honestly. At least with that you know exactly what you're getting and it's like two bucks.

Tell your buddy, ray189, that for sixteen bucks the goop should at least come with a side of regret and a free pack of those jerky sticks.
