Swapped frozen veggies for canned in my stir fry and saved $8 a week

I used to buy those big bags of frozen broccoli and peppers for stir fry at $4 a bag, which adds up when you cook 3 times a week. Tried canned veggies from Aldi at 89 cents a can and honestly, they work just as good after you drain and pat them dry. My stir fry got a little softer texture, but nothing my kids even noticed. Anyone else find a swap that cut your grocery bill without ruining dinner?

Does that metallic taste everyone talks about go away with a different brand or is it just something you gotta accept with canned? I've been using Aldi canned stuff and never really noticed it, but maybe my taste buds are just shot from all the hot sauce I dump on everything. I'm curious if you've tried shaking the canned veggies in a hot dry pan for a minute to dry them out more, or if that just made the mush worse for you?

hold on, i get that saving 8 bucks a week is nice, but canned veggies in a stir fry? i tried that once and it turned into mush, plus that weird metallic taste from the can leached into everything. i mean, if your kids didn't notice, more power to you, but i feel like frozen broccoli holds up way better, texture is a big deal for me. maybe it's just my old wok or i didn't pat them dry enough, but that swap felt like a downgrade i couldn't live with for just a few bucks.

Totally feel you on the texture thing, that metallic taste is the worst.
