That $20 pressure cooker from the flea market in Tulsa actually works way better than my $100 Instant Pot.

I picked it up on a whim last month because the seal looked good and the price was right, and after cooking 10 pounds of dried pinto beans for under $3 it came out perfect in 45 minutes, so has anyone else found a cheap alternative that outperforms the name brand stuff?

You know, I used to be all about the brand name stuff, thinking you had to spend big to get good results. But seeing how well that flea market find works makes me wonder if I've been wasting money this whole time. Maybe the secret is just finding something that's built well, not something that costs a lot.

Man, @gibson.elizabeth you're totally right... I think we get brainwashed into thinking expensive = better but really it's just about finding that one piece that's built solid. The old simple stuff without all the digital crap usually lasts longer anyway... my mom still uses a pressure cooker from the 70s that out-cooks anything on the shelf today.
