That $28 jar of fancy spice mix I bought once is still sitting in my cabinet, do not fall for the hype
Paid $28 at a farmers market in Austin for some smoked paprika blend, used it once and it tastes like the $2 stuff from the grocery store, anyone else get burned by overpriced seasoning?

Farmers market spices are a total gamble, I learned that the hard way too. Key thing is to look for stuff that's actually grown or smoked locally, not just jarred up and marked up. Also check for a harvest date somewhere on the label, if there isnt one, its probably been sitting around for months. My rule now is keep the fancy stuff for special meals and buy the cheap stuff for everyday cooking, that way you dont feel ripped off every time you reach for it. And honestly, that $28 couldve bought you a whole rack of decent spices that wouldve lasted a year.
