That lentil thing everyone kept posting, I finally caved and regret nothing

I spent 2 years scrolling past lentil soup posts thinking it was just sad people food. Last Tuesday I had $11 left for the week and a bag of lentils from the back of my pantry, so I gave it a shot. Followed a basic recipe with carrots, an onion, and some cumin I almost threw out. That pot made 6 solid meals and tasted better than the $14 takeout I usually order. Anyone else hold out on a budget staple for way too long?

Wait, $11 got you SIX meals? That math doesn't even sound real to me. I've been out here paying $9 for a single burrito bowl and feeling good about it. Honestly I think I've been scammed by the entire food industry for my whole adult life. The part that gets me is you said it tasted better than your usual takeout, that's the part I can't wrap my head around. I might have to dig a bag of lentils out of my own sad pantry tonight because this is starting to sound like a life hack I've been ignoring out of pure stubbornness.
