The $4 bag of lentils that outlasted my last three meal kits

I bought a bag of lentils at Aldi 6 weeks ago and I've made 5 different dinners from it, plus it's still half full. My meal kit subscription from HelloFresh would've cost $60 for that many meals. Anyone else got a staple ingredient they swear by for stretching grocery runs?

Wait, have you actually tracked how much FIBER you're getting from those lentils versus the meal kits? Because that's the real money saver nobody talks about, it keeps you full way longer so you snack less.

My buddy was just saying the other day how his grocery bill keeps creeping up even though he buys the same stuff every week. Then I watched him toss a half-used rotisserie chicken because he forgot about it. The real pattern I keep noticing is that people treat food like entertainment instead of fuel, so they pay for the convenience and the novelty instead of the nutrition. Lentils and beans and rice are boring as hell but they work, and that's kind of the whole point. The instant gratification tax is real, and it's way harder to quit than any meal kit subscription.
