TIL 50 cent bag of lentils beats $6 can of soup any day
I always bought canned soup for quick lunches thinking it was the cheapest option, but last month I swapped to a $1 bag of dried lentils and made 6 servings from it. The flavor was way better and I saved around $5 per week just on lunch. Anyone else found a budget staple they were ignoring for too long?

Lentils are the gateway bean, wait until you discover red split lentils break down into basically free soup base with zero soaking needed. The real secret is tossing in a bay leaf and some smoked paprika while they cook, that cheap bag suddenly tastes like a $15 restaurant bowl. Definitely underrated how much flavor you can squeeze out of a 50 cent bag with just a couple pantry spices.

Honestly isn't it wild how the cheapest ingredients just need the right trick to taste like you actually tried?
