Tried to make a 3 bean chili that cost me $25 instead of saving money

Last Tuesday I followed a 'budget chili' recipe online but forgot to check if I actually had any beans at home. Ended up buying canned beans, fresh veggies, and fancy spices for $25 total, which is more than I'd spend on takeout for a week.

$25 for a three bean chili? That would buy me a month's worth of beans from the bulk bins at my local grocery store. Canned beans are such a rip off sometimes, I swear they're just charging for the water and the can itself. And fancy spices? You probably spent like $8 on a jar of smoked paprika you'll use once. I hope that chili was at least good enough to make up for the cost of a whole week of takeout.

Tbh bulk beans and basic spices cut my chili cost in half after that same mistake.
