Appreciation post: the library's free seed swap in Santa Clarita
Last Saturday I wandered into the Old Town Newhall library for a book drop and found a seed exchange table set up by the community garden folks. I brought home four packets of heirloom tomato seeds and a bag of dried beans, no cost at all. The volunteers even showed me how to start them in egg cartons instead of buying trays. Anyone else using these local swaps to cut their gardening budget down?

I heard the master gardeners at the swap mention they're doing a fall seed saving workshop next month... that might be worth keeping an eye out for if you're trying to stretch your garden budget even further.
