Can we talk about how I used to think making my own laundry soap would save me $20 a month

I mixed up a batch with borax and a bar of Fels-Naptha last year, but my clothes started feeling weirdly stiff after a few washes. Turns out I was using too much and the hard water in my building made it worse. Anyone else have a DIY budget tip that totally backfired on them?

Oh man, my attempt at homemade dishwasher pods was a disaster. I used citric acid and baking soda, but they just fizzled into a sad paste and left a weird film on all my glasses. I had to re-wash everything by hand.

Honestly that whole DIY cleaning hack trend feels like a trap. So many videos make it look easy but the results are always a letdown. It's like we're all chasing that perfect homemade solution that doesn't actually exist. Just ends up wasting time and making a bigger mess to fix.
