Chat with my neighbor about his solar setup made me rethink my whole electric bill

I was out watering my plants last weekend and my neighbor Dave stopped me to complain about the heat. He mentioned he just got solar panels installed 3 months ago and his electric bill dropped from $180 to just $12 a month. He said the key was finding a local installer who used a group buy program through the city. I always thought solar was way too expensive for a regular person but Dave broke down how the tax credits and payment plan made it work for his family. It got me wondering if I need to actually sit down and do the math instead of just assuming something is out of reach. Has anyone else here looked into solar for their house in SCV and found a deal that made sense?
