I kept messing up my monthly budget by forgetting one small thing

For months, my numbers were always off by about $40... I finally sat down last weekend and went through three months of bank statements line by line. Turns out I was forgetting to add my $9.99 streaming music charge that hits on the 15th, and a $12 donation that comes out on the 3rd. They're small, but they add up and throw everything else off. How do you guys track those little automatic payments so you don't miss them?

My bank lets me set up text alerts for any charge over a dollar. I get a ping on my phone for every single transaction, even that $4 coffee. It forces me to log it right then in my budget app. Why wait for a statement when you can see the money leave in real time?

Forgetting those small charges is a classic modern money problem. It feels like our budgets get nibbled away by a hundred tiny subscriptions we barely remember signing up for. I put all my regular small payments on one credit card now, the one I only use for that stuff. The single statement each month shows me the whole picture of those background costs. What's your method for keeping track of the small stuff before it becomes a big surprise?

Does getting a text for every single coffee not just make you ignore the alerts after a while? I tried that and ended up muting the notifications because it was too much noise. Now I only get alerts for automatic payments, which is the whole point.
