Just realized how long it takes to actually save up for a new fridge

I've been going back and forth on replacing my old fridge for weeks now. It's got a leak that keeps coming back, and I've already spent $40 on parts trying to fix it myself. The thing is, a decent energy efficient model is going to run me around $800, but my budget only lets me put aside $50 a week. So I'm looking at 4 months of saving if I don't touch that money. On the other hand, if I just throw it on a credit card, I'll pay interest and end up costing more in the long run. Has anyone else had to weigh waiting to save vs. just buying now?

Is a fridge really worth stressing over for four months?

Three months without one taught me otherwise.

Drove three states away to pick up my grandmother's old fridge when mine died. Thing was from 1988 and had this weird yellow tint to it. Spent the whole trip back wondering if it even still worked. Plugged it in and it hummed to life like it had just been waiting. Been running strong for two years now. Never know what you'll find when you look past the new stuff.
