Just realized my grocery bill dropped $47 a trip after I switched where I shop
I used to do all my shopping at the big store near my place in North Charleston because it was convenient. Then about two months ago I tried the smaller market on Dorchester Road just to grab a few things, and I noticed the same items were way cheaper. I started keeping the receipts, and my weekly total went from around $140 to about $93 for the same stuff. The produce there is actually fresher too, which I did not expect. Has anyone else found a specific store that just beats the big chains on price for the basics?
Dorchester Road has a few of those spots tucked away and most people never bother to check because the parking lot looks small. The real trick is watching how fast their sale items turn over, since a smaller store can't sit on old stock the way a big chain can.
