My electric bill dropped $35 after I switched to a smart thermostat
I was always forgetting to adjust the temperature when I left for work, so I finally bought a cheap smart thermostat for $60 last month. It automatically sets the temp lower during the day and now my bill is noticeably lower. Has anyone else seen a big difference with one of these?

Saved me about the same. Took a few months to pay for itself.

Come on @valw36, are we really calling that a savings? You spent money upfront and waited months to get back to zero. That is not saving, that is just catching up to where you started. Most people never even see that break even point because they upgrade or move or the thing breaks before then. By the time it paid for itself, the new model was already out and you missed out on the latest features. And let's not forget the time value of money, that cash could have been earning interest or paying down debt instead of being tied up in some gadget. You broke even months later, but you were negative for all that time.
