PSA: I tracked my grocery spending for 90 days in Santa Clarita and the difference between delivery and walking in saved me $214 a month
Last summer I was ordering groceries through the app almost twice a week because it was just easier after work. I did not think much of it, but in July I added up the delivery fees, the tips, and the marked up prices and almost fell over. My total for the month was $612, and I knew we did not even eat that well. So I set a rule for August: I would walk to the store on Golden Valley with a list and a $100 weekly cap, no app. The first two weeks were rough because I kept forgetting stuff and making extra trips. By week three I got better at planning meals around what was on sale and what was already in the fridge. Last month my total was $398, so that is $214 less, and the weird part is we ate more fresh stuff and threw away less. The 15 minute walk each way is honestly the best part of my day now. Has anyone else done the math on their delivery habit, or am I the only one who was bleeding money without noticing?
