Spent $89 on a used chest freezer off Craigslist and my grocery bill went up, not down
Everyone told me a chest freezer was the cheat code for budget living in Santa Clarita, so I grabbed a $89 one off Craigslist last spring and started buying meat in bulk at Costco. Six months later I did the math and I'm spending about $40 more a month because I buy stuff just because it's on sale and half of it gets freezer burn anyway. So is a second freezer actually saving anyone money here, or am I just paying to store food I forget about?
The freezer isn't really the problem, buying stuff just because it's on sale is. A freezer only saves you money if you were already going to eat that food at full price anyway.
