The grocery guy at Food Lion in Columbia said buying canned beans was lazy, I now save $137 a month
A stocker at the Food Lion off Two Notch Road watched me load up on canned black beans and remarked that real cooks soak dried ones. I tried his way for a month, and between the soaking time, the gas bill, and tossing two batches that went sour, I was out more money and way more patience. I switched back to canned at 79 cents a can and my food budget dropped from $310 to $173 for the month. Dried beans might win on taste, but for a Tuesday night dinner after a 9 hour shift, canned wins every time. Has anyone else run the math on dried vs canned and gotten a different answer?
