Thought the $5 rotisserie chicken at Costco was overhyped, then I did the math on a whole week of dinners
Kept seeing folks in the SCV facebook groups hype that chicken up and I figured it was just cheap filler. Turns out I shredded one on Sunday and got 5 lunches plus a pot of soup out of it, which beats the $12 salads I was grabbing near the office on Bouquet Canyon. What's everyone else stretching into a full week of meals around here?
Nothing says adulting quite like doing math on a chicken carcass at 11pm on a Sunday, but here we are. My wife made fun of me for saving the bones for broth and now she's the one asking where the soup went by Wednesday. Five lunches off a $5 bird is honestly rookie numbers though, throw that meat in some tacos, a quesadilla, maybe a sad little salad if you're feeling fancy. The real flex is when you hit Costco on a sample day and basically eat lunch for free before you even buy the chicken.
