TIL my electric blanket uses more power than my space heater

I was complaining to my buddy about my heating bill last week and he asked what I run at night. I told him I use an electric blanket on high for like 8 hours. He pulled up some calculations on his phone and showed me that blanket uses 150 watts an hour while my little space heater only uses 100. I always thought blankets were the budget option but turns out they cost me an extra $12 a month. Anyone else check their appliances and get surprised by what uses the most power?

Is it just me or does everything we think saves money actually end up costing more once you really look at it? Feels like the whole "buy cheap stuff" mindset backfires in the long run.

dude check your phone charger too. I had the same wakeup call when I started looking at my power bill closer. Had an old phone charger that was just sitting there plugged in all the time drawing like 5 watts for nothing. Also your cable box and game consoles if you leave them in standby mode. I switched my blanket to the preheat setting where it runs hot for 30 min then turns off and that cut way down. Just set a timer on your phone to kick it on before bed.
