Took me 4 hours to find a $2 part that was right in front of my face
Was trying to fix a leaky faucet in my kitchen last weekend. Kept running to Home Depot for new washers and o-rings, spent like $15 on stuff that didn't fit. Finally after 3 trips I realized the old rubber piece had just shifted out of place. All I had to do was push it back in. Felt like an idiot. Anyone else spend way too long on something that ended up being nothing?

Oh man, I've DONE this exact thing so many times I should have a punch card. One time I spent THREE HOURS trying to troubleshoot a weird buzzing noise from my washing machine. Dragged the thing out from the wall, took off the back panel, watched a dozen YouTube videos. Turns out it was just a loose penny rattling around in the drum. That stupid coin probably cost me more in sanity than it was worth. I mean, I even TOLD myself "check the simple stuff first" but NO, I had to go full Sherlock Holmes on a laundry appliance. The worst part is I still felt proud when I found it, like I'd solved a mystery instead of just being a goofball.

Does it really matter that much in the grand scheme of things?
