Took me 45 minutes to open a jar of tomato sauce because my jar opener broke

I was making spaghetti for dinner and the lid on the sauce was on there tight. My cheap jar opener snapped in half after two twists. Had to run hot water over it, bang it on the counter, and finally used a butter knife to pry it off. Never thought I'd need a backup plan for opening a jar. Anyone else got a go to trick for stubborn lids that actually works?

Tapping it on the edge never works for me, I always just end up denting the lid.

Hot water is fine but you gotta tap the lid on the counter edge instead of banging the whole jar, lol. If you flip it over and smack the lid a few times the seal breaks way easier.
