Update: saved $140 on my electric bill by washing clothes at 6am in Newhall
Our bill was hitting $210 every month in Newhall and I couldn't figure out why, since we barely run the AC. My neighbor Ray told me to check our utility's time of use rates, and peak hours run 4pm to 9pm on weekdays. So last month I started doing all laundry and dishes before 7am, and the bill dropped to $70. Has anyone else around here switched their chores to off peak hours, and did it hold up in summer?
Where'd you land on that $70 number though? Newhall summers get brutal and running the AC during peak is what really eats the bill, not laundry. Seems like the drop might be from something else you changed that month instead of just the 6am thing.
