Update: Switched to a prepaid phone plan and saved $40 a month after 2 years with Verizon.

I finally looked at my bill and realized I was paying for unlimited data I never used. Anyone else have a carrier they switched from that was bleeding them dry?

My buddy was with AT&T for years and had the same shock. He found out he was basically paying for a family plan for just himself. He switched to a smaller carrier and cut his bill in half.

Sometimes you get what you pay for though... the coverage with those smaller carriers can be spotty in my area. I'd rather pay a bit more and actually have a signal when I need it. It's not always just about the lowest price.

Actually, a lot of those smaller carriers use the big networks, so the coverage is often the same.
