Vent: I bought a cheap food processor that died after two uses
I got a 'Sunbeam' model for 25 bucks at a discount store thinking I was saving money. It made one batch of hummus and then started smoking when I tried to chop veggies. Now I'm out the cash and still need to buy a real one. Has anyone found a budget brand that actually lasts?

That smoking thing is scary, reminds me of what @campbell.elliot said about their blender just giving up. What kind of veggies were you trying to chop when it happened, like were they really hard or frozen? I wonder if these cheap motors just can't handle anything more than soft stuff.

Cheap motors are built way tougher than people give them credit for. My bargain blender handles ice and frozen fruit every morning without a hiccup. Maybe the real issue is overloading the machine or not using enough liquid.
