Vent: My neighbor throws away perfectly good food every Tuesday

I saw him toss a whole loaf of bread and a bag of apples into the bin because the date said yesterday. I checked, they were totally fine. That's like throwing five bucks straight in the trash. I've been freezing my bread and making apple sauce for years to avoid waste. Does anyone else have a simple trick to make stuff last longer?

My grandma used to turn stale bread into breadcrumbs for meatloaf.

That's the kind of grandma wisdom we need back. Mine did the exact same thing, kept an old coffee can just for collecting those dried-out ends. Nothing went to waste in that house. It made the best meatloaf too, way better than the store-bought stuff in the cardboard can.
