A client in Tampa said my project updates were too technical and confusing.

They told me 'just tell me if it's on time and on budget, then the details'. Now I lead every email with those two points first. Anyone else simplify their client reports like this?

Honestly, that seems like a basic client request, not some huge revelation. They just wanted the bottom line first. I’m surprised they had to ask.

Calling it a basic request misses how bad most communication is. People bury the lead in endless emails all the time. The fact they had to ask shows it's not common sense to everyone.

If it's so basic, why do you think so many people still get it wrong?
