Found a hidden gas line in my own shop wall yesterday

Was hanging a new shelf in my shop last week and the stud finder went crazy. Kept beeping in a weird pattern. Turned out there was a buried 3/4 inch gas line running horizontal across the wall. Previous owner must have put it in themselves. No permit, no inspection, no nothing. Has anyone else ever found something dangerous hidden in walls they've been working around for years?

Found knob and tube wiring buried behind drywall in my 1920s house. Wasn't even disconnected, just live and waiting to burn the place down. Made me sick to my stomach when the electrician found it.

Nah it's fine, old stuff worked fine for decades.

Yeah that actually changed my mind. Old doesn't mean safe.
