I was building my forum's homepage for months before a user in Chicago pointed out the obvious flaw

I spent all my time on the backend and the admin panel, thinking that was the 'real' work. Then a guy from Chicago signed up and his first message was 'where's the search bar?' I had completely forgotten to add basic user navigation. Has anyone else had a core feature just slip their mind until someone called it out?

My first app launched without a login button.

Yeah, that's the worst feeling. You get so deep in the weeds you miss the front door. @uma409 leaving out the login button is the same kind of pain. It's like building a car and forgetting the steering wheel because you were so focused on the engine. The most basic thing for the user is the easiest for us to overlook. That Chicago guy did you a huge favor, honestly.
