I was reading a thread from 2012 about forum uptime and saw a stat that blew my mind
Someone posted that their old vBulletin forum had over 99.9% uptime for a decade, which is like less than 9 hours of total downtime. I mean, that's crazy to think about, right? I found it in an archive of a forum about, well, running forums. It was a thread where people were comparing their server setups. Makes me wonder what kind of hosting they were using to pull that off. Has anyone else seen numbers like that for a self-hosted board?

Honestly, that's probably a lie.

See it all the time, people just say things to sound better.

My buddy got caught doing that at work, just making stuff up to look smart. It was pretty awkward for him.

Remember when people used to brag about their forum uptime? Now they just make up stats to win internet points. Next they'll claim their Geocities site had 100% uptime since 1994, powered by a hamster wheel in their basement. The old forum admin flex was way more believable than whatever this is.
