Serious question about foundation vents, why does nobody seal them properly?
Ngl I've been doing crawlspace work for about 5 years now and I keep seeing people just slap vents in without any foam or caulk around the frame. Last Tuesday I pulled out a vent from a 2022 build and the gap was big enough to fit a pencil through. All that treated air just bleeds right out and you get moisture problems in the summer. Has anyone else run into lazy installs like this on newer construction?

Ain't it possible the gaps are on purpose for drainage on newer builds?

Got a buddy who does energy audits and he showed me photos from a job last month. New construction in a nice neighborhood and every single vent had half inch gaps on the sides. He stuck a dollar bill through one of them to prove it to the homeowner. The builder tried to claim it was intentional for drainage but that's just nonsense when you can see daylight from the crawlspace.
