Talked to an old framer last week who changed how I look at nail guns
He told me he's never owned a cordless nailer and still uses the same Senco he bought in 1987, and it made me wonder if all this battery-powered stuff is actually faster or just more expensive.

Did you catch the article a few months back where they tested old pneumatic nailers against the new battery ones? The pneumatics actually drove nails faster on long runs. @drew690 I saw your buddy's story too, it's kinda wild how these new tools are hit or miss on reliability. That old Senco from 87 probably outlasts half the stuff on shelves today, just because they built them simpler back then. All these battery packs and circuit boards add points of failure you don't need on a job site. I'd rather drag a hose around than be the guy who's nailer dies mid-row and has to wait for a charge.

Points of failure" is exactly right. I used to be all about the latest battery stuff, figured the old guys were just stuck in their ways. But hearing about that Senco from 87 and your friend's fancy nailer breaking in a year really made me rethink things. Sometimes simpler really is better.
