The day my laser level lied to me and I listened anyway
I was setting up a shower wall in a remodel over in Arlington, and my cheap green laser kept blinking like it was having a seizure. I knew the batteries were fresh, but I just shrugged and marked my lines anyway. Every tile ended up out of plane by about 3/8 of an inch, and I had to tear out two rows on Tuesday. Turns out the sensor was dirty, a quick wipe fixed it, and now I check that thing before I trust it. Anybody else got a tool that quietly sabotaged a job for weeks before you figured it out?

3/8 off on a tile wall sounds more like a shim problem than a laser problem, honestly.

My uncle fixed a crooked shower wall with a pile of beer coasters back in 87, worked fine for a decade.
