The inspector's throwaway line saved me $900 in lumber
Last month a county inspector walked through my framing job in Tulsa and said the floor joists looked like they were "drying wrong," whatever that meant. I ignored it at first, but after two weeks the subfloor started bowing in the exact spots he pointed at. Turns out he was hinting that my supplier delivered green lumber, not kiln-dried, and I had already built three walls with it. I tore it all down and swapped in proper material, which cost me the difference plus a weekend. Has anyone else gotten a vague warning from an inspector that turned out to be the real problem?
