TIL the hard way about insulation at a job site in Flagstaff

I was working on a house up near the ski resort last winter and we used spray foam in the attic like everyone does. Turns out the crew didn't seal around the can lights and the whole thing trapped moisture, leading to rot in the rafters six months later. Has anyone switched back to fiberglass batts for certain parts of a build after a bad experience like this?

Did the crew use the right kind of insulation for a cold climate? A buddy of mine had a similar problem in his cabin near Payson, and he ended up tearing out all the spray foam and going with unfaced batts in the ceiling. He said it breathes better and he hasn't had moisture issues since.

Your buddy is right, I read batt breathes way better than foam in cold places.
