Unpopular opinion: I stopped drawing full plans before starting a build and my work got better
I used to spend a whole weekend at my kitchen table in Akron sketching every cut and joint before touching any lumber, and half the time the plan fell apart by day two anyway. Then a guy at the lumber yard asked me why I was measuring a board I hadn't picked out yet, and that one question got in my head. Now I rough out the footprint with a chalk line, grab my tape and speed square, and just build it one piece at a time, checking as I go. Last month I framed a 10x12 shed this way in three days, which is two days faster than my old plan-first method. Is anyone else here working without full drawings, or am I going to regret this on a bigger project?
