My former gaming friend ghosted me after I beat him 12 times in a row on Street Fighter 6 last month

We had been playing online matches every Saturday for about 2 years. Then last month I finally got good and started winning most rounds. After the 12th loss in one session he just logged off and never replied to my texts again. I saw him in a different game lobby last week but he ignored me. Has anyone else lost a friendship over getting too competitive in a video game?

I saw a YouTube video about this exact thing... competitive games can really mess with some people's heads. Some folks tie their whole self worth to winning and losing, so getting beat that many times probably felt like a personal attack to him. He might just need some time to get over his ego or maybe he's embarrassed about getting so worked up. Still sucks to lose a friend over a video game though, especially after two years of playing together.
