Appreciation post: my entire moving truck decided to take a nap in a client's driveway yesterday

The hydraulic lift on my 26-foot box truck just gave up halfway through unloading a piano in Phoenix, leaving the whole rig tilted at a 15-degree angle. We had to call a tow company with a heavy-duty winch to pull it back onto level ground, which took about 3 hours and cost me $850. Has anyone else had a piece of equipment just completely quit at the absolute worst possible moment, and what did you do to get things moving again?

We just used some heavy-duty ratchet straps to secure the load until help arrived.

My truck's transmission gave up in a McDonald's drive-thru, so I feel your pain.

Worst possible moment? That's just how equipment fails. My old delivery van's transmission blew pulling out of a customer's steep driveway, blocking them in completely. Had to get a flatbed tow truck to drag it sideways up the street. Stuff always breaks when the pressure is on, there's no good time for it. You just have to call the right people and eat the cost.
