Client told me my branding was 'too safe' - she was completely right
Honestly, I was playing it way too careful for like 2 years. A client in Austin straight up said my logo designs looked like they were afraid to offend anyone. She wanted something bold and weird for her coffee shop and I kept pulling back. After she pushed me, I went with a graffiti-style logo and neon pink accents. Now her shop gets Instagram posts every week and I stopped holding back on all my projects. Anyone else had a client call you out on being boring?

My friend had this exact thing happen. She's a photographer and a couple years ago a bride told her all her work was 'too safe and pretty, like stock photos.' That stung but it was true. She started pushing herself to take weirder angles and capture moments that weren't just perfect smiles. Now she's booked out for weddings and her style is way more raw and interesting. Sometimes you need someone to just say it to your face.

Too safe and pretty, like stock photos" - ouch, but hey, free branding feedback.
