Had a client ghost me after 3 months of back and forth on a $12k paint job

Last Tuesday I finally got a text back from a client who had been stringing me along since January. We did three on site estimates, picked colors, even scheduled a start date. Then radio silence for two solid months. I left voicemails and emails with no reply. Turns out they hired a guy out of a Facebook ad who quoted them $7k. I bet he cut corners or used cheap material. Has anyone else dealt with clients just disappearing after all that legwork?

Absolutely been there. Had a guy last year do three walkthroughs with me for a full repaint, even bought the paint samples and did test patches on his walls. Then crickets for weeks. Found out he went with some guy charging half my price off a Craigslist post. The kicker was I saw his house two months later and the paint was already peeling in the sun. Cheap always costs you somewhere else, doesn't it?

Pretty sure cheap deals just cost you more time in the end.

Laughing at how that played out with the paint dude... bet the cheap guy used some dollar store paint and called it a day. You get what you pay for, and sometimes you pay twice. Nothing like watching someone save fifty bucks upfront then drop three hundred later to fix the mess. Classic case of penny wise and pound foolish if you ask me.
