Had a talk with my landlord last week that made me rethink my whole lease renewal strategy
She flat out told me I was the only tenant who never asked for rent breaks or repairs, and then asked why I was okay getting taken advantage of for 3 years, has anyone else realized being polite with commercial landlords just costs you money?

Oh wow, that's actually kind of wild she pointed it out like that. Did she say anything else about what made her realize that, or was she just curious about your mindset?

Stood there for a second just staring at my phone after I read that. She just straight up said I had a crap mindset and that was it, no sugar coating or anything. I mean damn, that's bold for a casual conversation but I guess she saw something I didn't. Still processing how she figured it out just from talking to me once or twice.

Yeah, actually something similar happened to me a few years back. A friend just told me I was way too negative about everything and at first I got kinda defensive. But she pointed out specific things I said, like how I always assumed the worst outcome would happen, and once she laid it out like that I couldn't really argue with her. It was tough to hear but honestly that conversation changed how I talk to myself.
