Had to choose between hiring a bookkeeper or doing my own taxes this quarter
Picked the bookkeeper after I spent 11 hours on a Sunday trying to figure out sales tax for 3 different states, and my brain nearly melted. Was it worth the $400 or did I just waste money on something I could've learned?

Feeling your pain on this one. 11 hours is brutal for something that should be a simple process. I get why you picked the bookkeeper, tax stuff is a nightmare when you have multiple states to deal with. That $400 probably saved you from making a costly mistake too, one wrong filing can really mess things up. Plus, hiring someone gives you time back for actual work or sleep. Sounds like money well spent to me.

That 11 hour Sunday thing hits close to home, I did the same thing last year with multi state filings and it took me almost 12 hours and I still messed up the Nevada part. $400 is a steal compared to what a single audit or penalty could cost you, plus you get to not hate your life every quarter. I tell everyone now just pay the professional and save yourself the headache, it's the easiest decision once you've been through it once.
