I charged my first repeat client 15% more and he said yes without blinking
I run a small landscaping business in Boise and had a client I mowed for every other Friday at $60 a visit. Last spring I finally sat down and added up my gas, blade sharpening, and drive time, and that account was barely making me $18 a trip. So I typed up a new rate of $69 and sent it over expecting him to push back or walk. He replied in four minutes saying that was fine, and mentioned his last guy charged $80. I had been scared of losing a client I was basically paying to keep. Now I want to know how many other small shops set prices off gut feel instead of actually doing the math. Has anyone else raised rates and been shocked that nobody cares?
