I was wrong about hiring a virtual assistant for my shop
For two years I thought VAs were just for tech bros and online gurus. Then my buddy at a local print shop in Austin told me he hired one for $12 an hour to handle customer emails. I tried it last month with a woman from the Philippines who now books my consultation slots. She freed up 10 hours a week for me to actually work on orders instead of answering the same questions over and over. Has anyone else had good luck with a VA for a physical business?

Training them right is the whole deal, it takes some time up front but pays off big once they know your stuff. I'd add that you gotta give them a solid script for the tricky questions, not just the easy stuff. Keeps you from getting dragged back into the phone calls when something unexpected comes up.

I run a small landscaping company and hired a VA from the Philippines for $10 an hour. She handles all my phone calls and texts from people asking for estimates. It took a week to train her on my pricing and service areas, but now she schedules everything. I went from losing half my calls to having every lead booked. Honestly the best money Ive spent all year.
