Rant: That consultant I hired last month kept pushing metrics that don't matter for a local shop like mine

I run a small hardware store in Tucson, and this guy kept insisting I track customer lifetime value and churn rates like I'm some tech startup. He spent two hours explaining concepts that have nothing to do with whether Mrs. Garcia comes back for her third bag of nails this month. Has anyone else had to fire a business advisor who just didn't get what running a real local business means?

@king.stella, respectfully, if you aren't tracking those numbers you're flying blind and hoping it works.

Man, some of you take this stuff way too seriously. Is tracking churn really gonna save your hardware store or just make you overthink things? @king.stella, I get why you switched sides on this - sometimes it's just not that deep for a local place.

Used to think those metrics were gospel, but you just changed my whole view on this.
