Spent $600 on a CRM that I replaced with a spreadsheet in two months

Bought a fancy CRM for my landscaping business back in March because I was drowning in sticky notes and missed follow-ups. The sales guy promised it would save me 10 hours a week, but I spent more time fiddling with the fields than actually calling people back. Last month I switched everything to a shared Google Sheets file with color-coded tabs, cost me nothing, and it took one afternoon to set up. Has anyone else shelled out for software that ended up being worse than what you already had?

Software companies sell the dream of fixing a mess, but half the time the mess is just part of running a business. Spreadsheets force you to keep things simple, and simple usually wins because you actually use it every day. It's like buying a fancy espresso machine but still going back to the drip coffee maker because it just works.
