Spent $900 on a website redesign and my bounce rate went through the roof

I run a small lawn care business in Phoenix and had this local guy build me a new site with lots of animation and fancy graphics. Looks great on my phone but I checked Google Analytics 3 weeks later and almost nobody clicks past the homepage. My old basic site from 2019 had way better numbers. Anyone else had a redesign totally backfire on them?

Yeah 'forgot people just wanna book a lawn mowing lol' hits it - you probably buried your CTA under a bunch of parallax scroll that loads slow on mobile.

Agree with @victorb74, my fancy site looked pretty but nobody could find my phone number.

Noticed this everywhere now, not just websites. Walk into any coffee shop and the menu board is all hipster fonts and weird names, you can't tell what they actually sell. Grocery stores too, they put fancy labels on basic stuff and hide the price in tiny print. Like dude, I just want to know if this costs $4 or $8 without squinting for 30 seconds. All that design fluff just makes things harder for regular people trying to get through their day.
