That email template I was so proud of got absolutely roasted

I had this sales email I thought was gold. Perfect subject line, great call to action. Sent it to a mentor in Chicago and she came back with four words: 'Stop selling. Start helping.' She was right. Every line was about my product, not the customer's problem. I rewrote the whole thing focusing on one specific pain point they deal with daily. Has anyone else had someone call out their copy and completely flip how you write?

Stop selling. Start helping." That line changed my whole approach too.

Ugh, this is getting way overblown. It's a sales email, not a marriage proposal. Yeah, the mentor gave solid advice and it clearly worked, but acting like four words rewired your entire brain just feels dramatic.

Kept rewriting the same opening line six times before I got it. @olivia_bailey that mentor quote hit me exactly the same way. Thought I was being helpful by listing all the features, but I was just talking at people. Now I start every email with a question about their actual problem and don't mention my product until the very end.
